It was cyber security researcher Dave Walker who discovered that Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s phone number leaked and compromised and that the Facebook owner uses a more secure messaging app. After the news broke, Signal also didn’t shy away from having a little fun. It retweeted a link to a story about Zuckerberg’s Signal account, writing, “With the May 15th WhatsApp Terms of Service acceptance deadline fast approaching, Mark leads by example.” Twitteratis are in no mood to spare Zuckerberg for using rival Signal app instead of WhatsApp and are heavily roasting him on Twitter. The revelation comes at a time when several WhatsApp users are unhappy with Facebook-owned WhatsApp’s new privacy policy, and are already shifting their preference towards a more secure and end-to-end encrypted alternative such as Signal. The messaging app has altered its terms of service and informed all its users that soon the information from interactions with businesses will be shared with Facebook and the businesses themselves. Regarding the Facebook leak of the 533M people, the irony is that Mark Zuckerberg’s data was also compromised and shared on public forums. Not only Zuckerberg, but social media giant’s other co-founders Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes were also among those affected by the data leak. As per a security expert, the data is a result of a vulnerability that exposed the phone number linked to every Facebook account. Of the 533 million affected, 32 million belonged to the US, 11 million to the UK, and 6 million to India.
